This Week at Thirty Tigers: June 23, 2017

It’s been another great and eventful week here at TT! Check out what we’ve been up to:

Following the release of his critically acclaimed new album, The Nashville Sound, Jason Isbell appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. The reviews have been nothing short of incredible. A cover story in The Tennessean; “…arguably the finest songwriter putting pen to paper these days…” said Associated Press; NPR’s Morning Edition declared “Isbell renders the characters in his lyrics with intimate detail;”  LA Times praised the album as an “impressively literate collection stoked with the kind of insightful songs that have made him one of the bright lights of roots music over the last decade.” The profile and review in Esquire called the album opening song, “the spoonful of sugar that helps the gritty go down, on both lyrical and instrumental levels.” and dozens more. On release day the band performed a private show for the first 500 fans who pre-ordered the album from Grimey’s, in an intimate full setup in the parking lot behind Grimey’s.

Steelism released ism, which was met with a great review from American Songwriter! The band are playing a free show at Grimey’s tonight if you’re in Nashville. Get ism here.

Check out the video for Toby Keith‘s new song, “Wacky Tobacky,” featuring Willie Nelson that came out today.
